Florence: Leading a Renaissance Then and Now
5-Week Summer Study Abroad Program in Florence, Italy
Led by two Northwestern professors with appointments spanning the School of Communication, McCormick School of Engineering, Kellogg School of Management, and Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, this program is designed to cultivate leadership capacity in our students. Italy, and Florence in particular, has cultivated great leaders across centuries and domains -from the arts and humanities, science and innovation, to government and civil society.
The premise of this program is that as students experience the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes permeating Florence and the surrounding hills, they can discover in themselves, their own unique paths to lead in their chosen field. This program will inspire the next generation of leaders, whatever their interests.
Program courses will integrate academic field trips and instructional excursions to compliment in-class work. As part of the curriculum, students will visit important historical, cultural, and political sites and activities in and beyond Florence.
The program is open to all majors and programs of study. The interdisciplinary engagement of students from across Northwestern schools is a signature feature of this program.
